About the Ravin' StompersRavin’ Stompers Line Dance Club started in 2004 with six members because Heulwen and her friends wanted to learn the current dances that were danced at the various Country and Western Festivals. The following year, Heulwen started teaching school children at Talybont Hall. It wasn’t long until she was asked to hold a class at the next village, Taliesin and then at the Rugby Club in Aberystwyth.
The first charity event was held in February 2005. Another was held in 2006. In 2007, the Ravin’ Stompers ventured to a bigger venue and held their first outdoor free festival on August Bank Holiday Sunday at the Bandstand in Aberystwyth. This helped to raise even more money for Breast Cancer. Since the 2007 Festival was a huge success it was decided to hold the event for two days the following year. August Bank Holiday Sunday and Monday saw the second Ravin’ Stompers free Country & Western Festival. At the end of 2008, a grand total of £13,348 has been given to Bronglais Breast Cancer Care. The money has been used to open a four-bedder ward at the hospital to treat Breast Cancer patients. The Ravin’ Stompers are very proud to have been able to raise money for such a worthy cause. The fundraising and fun continues: the 2009 Festival raised £2,046.24. Preparations are already underway for out 2010 Festival. Come and join us.... |
